Circuito de Getxo

The other ‘big week’ of Basque cycling—alongside Itzulia—comes to an end once again in Getxo. Years ago, the race gave up its fixed 31 July date in favour of a valuable Sunday slot alongside the San Sebastián Classic, whenever the Olympic Games or the vagaries of the calendar do not get in the way.

The route, with a start at Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum, has changed slightly from last year: in 2025, an early ascent of Pike Bidea (2 km at 10%) was added. Along with the tough Txomintxu / Arkotxa finish and the gentler climb to Akarlanda, it defines the race.

This season, the two ascents come 49 km and, most importantly, 16 km from the finish, so the race will likely remain locked up until then.
