Race description
The 45th edition of the Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa faithfully reprises the final section used in 2025, although its opening section changes slightly while retaining the trademark difficulty and character of Gipuzkoa’s great race.
This year, the route will pass through Orio and Itziar—both unclassified—before climbing Kalbario (Category 3) and Azkarate (Category 3), then joining last season’s route around the 80 km mark. Urraki (Category 2) and Alkiza (Category 3) follow before the descent to Hernani, the return towards Donostia-San Sebastián and the start of the finishing circuits.
The race’s Jaizkibel (Category 2), its signature climb, is crested 63 km from the finish before a descent towards Irun and the brutally steep Erlaitz (Category 2; 3.8 km at 10.6%), 47 km from the line and likely to be decisive.
There is then a long descent to Oiartzun before returning to San Sebastián to tackle Murgil Tontorra (2.1 km at 10.1%). Only eight kilometres remain after the summit before the finish on the Boulevard.
