ASO labels this a flat stage, perhaps to coax the sprinters into staying in the race, but it packs nearly 2,400 metres of climbing before the grand Alpine finale over the next three days.
The Col des Prés (3.5 km at 6.6%) early on combines with a lumpy final run towards Voiron where -all the more so given the rise 6 km from the line- we should see a breakaway + a 'fuga de la fuga'.
