Stage info
This should be the first big mountain day of this Tour, Les Angles aside, and a test at altitude for the favourites, with a very familiar Pyrenean menu.
The Col d'Aspin (Cat. 1) and, above all, the mythical Col du Tourmalet (HC) by its Sainte-Marie-de-Campan side (17 km at 7.3%) should shape the race before Gavarnie (18.7 km at 3.7%), long but gentle. The layout, in that sense, is perfect, just as the textbook dictates: huge splits by a tough penultimate climb followed by attrition.
Bonuses
There are 10-6-4" at the finish. The intermediate sprint only awards points.
