The Tour de Wallonie moves to a new slot on the calendar —it used to be held in late July— taking advantage of an underused stretch right after the Giro d'Italia. To open, a treacherous day, with a cobbled sector of almost 3 km at Court-Saint-Étienne and the Côte de Trémouroux (cat. 2) as appetisers before the closing circuit over the Mur de Thuin (ramps close to 10%), climbed twice, the last time 13 km from the finish.
