For the second time in its five editions so far under its current name and format, the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will start outside France.
Lausanne, home of the International Olympic Committee and a recent host of both the women’s and men’s Tour de Romandie, as well as the men’s Grande Boucle, will stage a lively opening day in which the favourites will already have to stay alert.
The route is not especially difficult—three Category 3 climbs will award the first mountain points—but the cobbled finish at Saint-François includes tough ramps: over 2 km, with sections at 8%, before a relatively flat sprint at 1%.
It is only the first part of the finish used in the 2022 men’s Tour: on that occasion, there was a brief respite before another two-kilometre climb to the line. Will we see a Swiss victory (Rüegg) on Swiss National Day?
